The problem
VisionX is built in a different way to the ubiquitous traditional online editors typically used today when making a forum or blog post. These use Javascript to build functionality on top of the proprietary HTML editing functionality that is built in to modern Web browsers.
These editors suffer from a number of problems, including their residence within editor form boxes separate from the main page content preventing WYSIWYG editing of content in-place on the Web page itself, and the difficulty of controlling how users can interact with and format data (as this depends upon the design of the proprietary HTML editing code built in to the browser).
A new approach
VisionX has been built in a totally different way, using only Javascript and the W3 DOM to implement items like the cursor, providing total control over design and functionality.
Using VisionX, the content within any subset of any Web page can be made editable in-place, offering a true WYSIWYG experience.
In addition, the underlying format of the content created can be closely restricted to either a subset or "patterns" of XHTML, facilitating its predictable re-use in different Web publishing scenarios and frameworks.
